Ralph Klein made a deep mark on our province and on our nation. My deepest sympathies go to Colleen and the rest of his family, who have demonstrated great strength throughout his illness.
Ralph and I shared a passion for politics, a love of Alberta, and lockers next to each other at the health club. I knew him as an honest, straightforward man that was always trying to do his best for the people that he served. He had an incredible ability to read the public mood and to communicate and connect with Albertans. This explains his tremendous political success, both as Mayor of Calgary and as one of Alberta’s longest-serving premiers.
Ralph had many political accomplishments and he has been widely recognized for his dedication to the people of Alberta. In the coming days and weeks we will all share stories of Ralph – many with a grin and a shake of the head! He was a true Albertan – a real maverick – and he will be greatly missed.
