Born and raised just outside of Calgary, Dick would start his legal career in Calgary after completing his law degree at the University of Alberta. Over the years, Dick also held many Directorships with a number of oil and gas companies.
A highly celebrated philanthropist who stood out as one of Calgary’s most significant supporters of the arts, Dick had a passion for classical music. He was instrumental in the founding of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Opera, the Mount Royal Conservatory of Music and many other art institutions. In 2010, Dick was invested as a Member of the Order of Canada in recognition of his philanthropy.
Dick leaves behind him an outstanding professional record and a legacy of generosity that has allowed Calgary’s arts scene to flourish. He will be greatly missed.
