Senator Doug Black recognises young Albertans who make noteworthy contributions to Alberta communities by opening nominations for the “Senator’s Contribution Award.”
The Senator’s Contribution Award recognizes a deserving graduating student who has made an important and meaningful contribution to the greater good of their school or community. Any student in Alberta who would be deserving of this recognition can be nominated by their school.
Launched in 2017 as part of Canada150 Celebrations, this year, Senator Black focuses on youth who are making a difference in their communities.
The award will consist of a certificate acknowledging and thanking the individual for their valuable contribution. A list of all recipients will be published in June.
“It is important to recognize those who make quiet contributions to our communities and I wanted to use my position as an elected-Senator to work with each of Alberta’s high schools to find exceptional individuals.” – Senator Doug Black
“Canada is the best country in the world and that reputation starts from the ground up with the important but often quiet actions individuals take to improve life in their communities every single day. This actions deserve acknowledgment and I wanted to find a small way I could help advance their recognition.” – Senator Doug Black
