Senator Doug Black undertakes Alberta Innovation Tour
Ottawa – Senator Doug Black is continuing his work that he has started on Alberta 2.0 – a plan to build a more resilient and robust Alberta economy.
Senator Black is undertaking an innovation tour of Alberta visiting Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Calgary.
Senator Black will be visiting academics, and innovators in all of the agriculture, the artificial intelligence and defense sectors. Senator Black will also be meeting with social innovators and participating in both Medicine Hat and Calgary innovation round tables.
“Innovation is central to Alberta’s future. Oil and gas will continue to play key role in our economy for many years to come but Albertans have had enough of the economic rollercoaster and it’s time to diversify.” – Senator Doug Black
“Diversification initiatives need to be strategic to be successful. Alberta has three strategic areas that we identified in my Alberta 2.0 initiative: energy clean tech, health care, and agri-food.” – Senator Doug Black.
“There is good work being done in Alberta and we should see more of it. My goal from this tour is to learn about how I can help spur innovation and better communicate the needs of innovators to decision makers in Ottawa.” – Senator Doug Black
